Diary Event

bigpic
It has been a very busy few days at BSGC. Firstly Mark, David and myself all made the top 25 in the recent PGA order of merit event, played at home. Mark had rounds of 73, 71 to take bragging rights from me on 74, 71. Dave had 71, 75, however Dave can console himself in that he won the Dunhill Links style Pro Am event we ran along with the tournament (better ball 1 pro and 1 amateur). Playing with partner Scott Warman he managed to return a phenomenal 26 under par total for 2 rounds. Scott had 2 net eagles and a net albatross in round 1 and, bettered this in round 2, with 13 net birdies in round 2! Well played guys.

The annual Pro Am followed on Friday and our highest finishing team in the was Jenny Tyler, Barbara Page and Fiona Charlton, their -20 score was only good enough for 2nd place, as a visiting team managed -25. Will Baxter, Oli Churcher and Steve Helm finished 3rd on countback, having matched the -20 score. Our own Helena Holland had a big day too, playing her very first Pro Am, she returned a solid level par 73 and breathed a big sigh of relief, having successfully negotiated the first event nerves.

Scoring on Sunday in the Terry Brew Cup, which also doubles as the first Captain's Day 2019 qualifier was crazy low. Nineteen players beat their handicaps, returning 70 or better and you needed 66 to make the podium! Max Hopkins shot a gross 64 (nett 66) for 3rd place, Frank Morse managed to shoot 64, however he didn't win! Danny Fullen took the trophy with a fantastic 63. Everything went right for Dan as he cruised around in a gross 82 off his 19 handicap. Great golf gents, well played indeed.

Jane Conie and Sam Hadley won the Tri-Gen tournament, played on Saturday, managing 46 points to beat the Captain and son Ed by 2. Phil and Simon Mitchelmore came 3rd on 43 points. Well played Jane and Sam!

In the SOOM on Saturday, Freddie Hopkinson kept up his great form, scoring 41 points, Will Baxter has suffered a dip in form, however he did the right thing and grafted on the range, with a couple of lessons thrown in until he fixed it, managing 40 points on Saturday, Bill Connor was 3rd with 39. Well played gents.
