Dear Members,

You may recall that we trialled a change to the opening hours for catering services in August to open at 11am and close at 6pm in the hope of serving more food later in the day. Opening to 6pm has not brought in additional members wishing to eat later in the day, so the new catering hours for September, which takes immediate effect will be:

10am to 4.30pm Clubhouse Catering (Monday to Sunday)
10am to 4.30pm Halfway House (Monday to Friday)
8.30am to 4.30pm Halfway House (Saturday & Sunday)
11am to 7pm Bar (Monday to Sunday)

In October, the catering times will end at 4pm; the bar opening hours remain the same.

As it is getting darker earlier now, the gates will be locked at 8.30pm. This will be reviewed each week as the nights draw in and an update will be sent out.


New Bar & Catering committee member

We currently have members on the committee who can share a view from the Ladies, Seniors and Junior members and are therefore now looking to recruit a member who can share the views of the younger adults to complete our overall view of the membership’s catering requirements. Our meetings are held on the second Thursday in the month at 10am. If you are interested in joining the committee and keen to bring fresh ideas for enhancing our catering offering, please send your details to Barbara Eddleston, chair of the Catering committee to babs@eddleston.org and copy myself into the email to manager@bsgc.co.uk

Closing date for applications is the 1st October and all submissions will be reviewed at our catering meeting being held on the 8th October 2020.


Weekend – Bacon roll orders on the 1st Tee

The pre-ordering service is going well at the weekends and helps to maintain the pace of play as your Coffee and Bacon Rolls are waiting for you to collect after 9 holes. If you are booked in to play at the weekends and teeing off between 7am and 9.30am, please place your order with the starter on the Tee and collect from the halfway house after 9 holes.


Sunday Carveries

These have been popular and supported well through the month of August, therefore we will continue to offer a weekly carvery throughout the month of September (excluding the 13th September).

2 courses £20
3 courses £23

Children under the age of 12 – 2 courses £10 (main course and ice cream)

Fish & Chip Night – Friday 25th September 2020

We are holding a Fish & Chip night on the 25th September (not to be confused with the Fish & Chip supper on the 11th September when you play 9 holes of golf beforehand). The 25th September is just good old Fish & Chips in a box on a Friday night served between 5.30pm and 6.30pm. Bookings in advance by paying via the till with the Bar Staff - £12 per person.

Course open, members can book tee times using the ClubV1 App or calling the pro shop on 01279 271227. Member guests should be booked in by calling the shop. Visitors are allowed on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, please call the shop on the number above for availability. Currently play is for a maximum of 4 players per group on every day, in 10 minute intervals. The driving range can now take bookings of up to 4 people per half hour, members only.
